Japanese people have used Japanese candles (Wa-rousoku in Japanese) since 7th century. Main material is Haze tree (R.succedanea). This plant, known as Japan Wax Tree today, grows in East Asia only. I mean, Japanese candles are made of 100% vesitable wax.
On the other hand, Western candles had been made from animal tallow (for
example, pigs and whales). Western candles were introduced to Japan in
the Middle Ages. But Buddhist (mainly monks and temples) had denied them.
Because Buddhism teachings ban the taking of lives. Nowadays Japanese are
using paraffin wax western style candles.
These candles can't be made at outside of Japan! Why?
Japan Wax Tree grows in East Asia. So, this plant grows in China as well
as Japan.
But analysis of ingredient showed that it contained 6% Japan Acid in Japanese
tree. Chinese tree isn't contain this acid.
I mean, it never be "Chinese Japanese-candles". Japanese candles are 100% made in Japan. It can't be made in other countries.
The hallmark of Japanese candles?

1. All Handmade
2. All vesitable wax
3. Powerful but soft lights
4. Long flaming
5. Stand up to the wind
