The picture describes extinct Japanese habit.
Though it's extinct habits, Koushin-ko was held till Edo period (till 1868) in Japan.
Koushin-ko was Japanese habit which carried out in every two months.
Ancient people believed that there is a bug called "Sanshi" inside own body.
This bug reports people's past action to the God in Koushin day's night (every two months).
That's why, people that feared God's punishment never slept all night. They used to talk or drink through the night not to let bug go to the God.
There was a habit like that till 1868 in Japan. Then people appealed to SHOMEN KONGO for mercy.
Though Japanese who knows that are reducing, it's rare Buddhism image. Because the habit itself is extinct.

This is supreme high-ranking Buddhism decorations.
Keman is one of Buddhism decorations. Generally, monk decorated living flowers on an altar. The times passed, as a result of seeking immortality, it was changed from living flowers to metal decorations. In Japan, this turning point appeared around the funeral of Emperor Shomu (I mean, it was 8th century).
This Keman has Kamon (Japanese family crest or temple crest) which is called Maru-ni-Kashiwa (oak in the circle). I guess that it was old temple possession. This Keman is almost perfect condition.
